Directions:
1. Use the format and rubric below.

2. Write about the following topic:
What is another main conflict in the novel (please do not write about the Greasers vs. the Socs. Think about Ponyboy's internal and external conflicts, for example). Describe the problem the protagonist faces and discuss what is needed for the problem to be resolved.
Tips:
*Read your questions over. Make sure that you answer ALL of the questions.
*When you begin your writing, turn the question into a statement.
EXAMPLE: A major conflict in The Outsiders is...
*Make sure that you ICE your quotes. (ICE means Introduce, Cite, and Explain)
EXAMPLE: As Ponyboy says, “It seemed funny to me that Socs...were just like us” (32). Ponyboy is coming to the realization that the Greasers and the Socs have more in common than he previously thought.

For this project, you will be writing/ typing a newspaper article based on one of the scenes that we read in The Outsiders. The goal of this project is to get you both thinking and writing from a different perspective and demonstrating what you have learned from your reading of The Outsiders.
